Ghana & Music
In May 2013, a group of Carleton University students will travel to Ghana as part of the Africa Abroad summer course offered by the IAS, and led by Kathy Armstrong. The students are from different parts of the University: Music, History, Women and Gender Studies, French, Political Science, and African Studies. We have had a few meetings introducing ourselves to each other, getting the info on visas, health concerns and requirements and just generally preparing for an amazing cultural adventure!
We will spend three weeks in Ghana, one in the capital city of Accra and two weeks in the village of Dagbamete, in the Volta region of Ghana.
We are grateful for the support of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Institute for African Studies and the SSAC Music Department.
Read on to follow our adventures.....
